It is a blessing and a curse when a friend says “Hey, so I saw a display of Urban Decay stuff for sale at Nordstrom Rack. You should check it out.”
Thanks to my friend, I paid more than I would had I just gone and gotten the Naked Palette I was opining about still not having…but I got THREE UD PALETTES! *pocket book groaning* And I also snagged a couple NYX colors and a jar off Smashbox Jet Set Waterproof gel liner in Deep Purple…for 50% off.
Here is what I snagged:
Urban Decay Mariposa Palette
Includes the colors Rockstar (deep aubergine shimmer), Gunmetal (dark metallic gray shimmer w/silver micro-glitter), Skimp (cream shimmer), Infamous (fuchsia shimmer), Wreckage (medium taupe w/gold glitter), Haight (mermaid blue shimmer), Money (light grayish green w/gold shimmer), Mushroom (warm pale gray shimmer), Spotlight (light mocha w/gold glitter) and Limelight (rich bronze w/gold glitter).
After swatching, I am in love with Rockstar, Haight, and Spotlight! Skimp will be a great neutral and highlight color. But I am happy with ALL the colors in this palette in general, save for Money which I have NO idea how I will get use out of…
Urban Decay Ammo Palette (2012)
This was re-released in 2013 with a different case, and includes a new brush and sample of Primer Potion, which the 2012 version (mine) does not have. But I have that brush and a full size UDPP so no biggie for me.
Includes the colors Smog (deep coppery bronze shimmer), Mildew (mossy green shimmer w/gold shift), Oil Slick (black matte w/silver micro-glitter), Last Call (metallic plum), Chopper (copper shimmer w/silver micro-glitter), Maui Wowie (metallic golden beige w/silver glitter), Shattered (turquoise shimmer w/gold shift), Polyester Bride (white snow shimmer w/silver micro-glitter), Grifter (sheer lavender shimmer w/silver micro-glitter), Sin (champagne shimmer).
I already own Last Call and Sin in full size compacts, but welcome additions to my collection are Shattered, Chopper, and Maui Wowie! I love Mildew but am still mastering greens for my coloring. Polyesther Bride and Grifter are very sheer. Not sure how I will use them yet, and I am never a fan of glitter blacks, so Oil Slick is a hard sell for me. Maybe it will inspire me to come up with something new to do with it!
Urban Decay Deluxe Shadow Box
This is definitely the biggest winner for me of the three. Every color in here is fabulously pigmented, and was chosen among their top selling deluxe colors they offer. Included are the colors Fishnet (bright purple/pink duochrome), Honey (old gold metallic)
Ransom (vivid purple/blue), Graffiti (bright shimmery green), Zero (black with subtle sparkles), Peace (bright swimming pool blue), Shag (metallic coppe), Scratch (medium rose gold), and Underground (medium shimmery taupe).
This palette is been around since…2011 probably? I admired it but never dove in because that was during my “balance makeup on the edge of a counter” years, and I just didn’t buy much in the way of makeup. I predict this beauty will get a workout from me in in the months ahead.
All palettes are currently available on sale at UrbanDecay.com or try your local Nordstrom Rack!
